A murder occurs in a prominent northern Arizona family. Derrick Walton is on a mission to atone for his sins, putting his own life at risk to save a woman in distress. Larissa Baxter is a gorgeous Arizona socialite who has always relied on her striking beauty to get what she wants.
After being falsely arrested for murder and posting bail, however, she faces life in prison. On the run, she must do what, to her, is the unthinkable--de-emphasize her looks to appear as average as possible and avoid undue attention. After their paths cross, their lives take an unlikely turn when, together, they live in isolation in Alabama, and Derrick realizes that the most important rescue of all still lies ahead--saving Larissa's soul.

Sort order. Jan 13, Tabitha Bouldin rated it really liked it Shelves: Considering the content, I would recommend this book for adults. Not that the content isn't appropriate for children, nothing specifically inappropriate happens, but some sexual references are given. The circumstances that led Derrick and Larissa together were quite bizarre.

I will admit, it took me a few chapters to accep Innocence Denied is an unusual story between Derrick Walton and Larissa Baxter. I will admit, it took me a few chapters to accept the weirdness and move on with the story. The plot was engaging, with the entire story centering around Larissa being a murder suspect and Derrick trying to keep her from the police.
Derrick faced many challenges in showing Larissa that God loves her. I thought the book held up well with its theme of gentle guidance to God. Derrick was never pushy or overbearing.
Innocence Denied: Where Is My Hero? - eBook: Dr. Pat: - yfylykuvip.tk
I found the reading light and easy, the words flowing well together in a way that kept me reading straight through without stopping. Derrick proved himself to be a true believer, with his words and actions pacing the action of Larissa's journey in a way that she could understand. While the entire book has a charge of emotion since Larissa is a fugitive, it was the ending that really drove the nail home. I won't give it away, just know that Derrick has intense reasons for wanting to help Larissa. On a scale of one to ten, I give the romance in this book a one, which is exactly where it should be since the specific genre for this title is strictly Christian Fiction.
Derrick does have feelings for Larissa, but it never advances beyond a rare mention. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Feb 19, Helen rated it it was amazing. Innocence Denied, by Mike Garrett, is an emotionally charged story of a young lady, Larissa, who is charged with murdering her husband and an older man, Derrick, who takes her away to avoid going to prison.
This is a great story that kept me reading it to find out what happens. It is a great story of dealing with past mistakes and hurts while trying to move forward. Derrick has traveled to Arizona to get away after the death of his wife. While there, the daughter of an old friend is charged with Innocence Denied, by Mike Garrett, is an emotionally charged story of a young lady, Larissa, who is charged with murdering her husband and an older man, Derrick, who takes her away to avoid going to prison.
While there, the daughter of an old friend is charged with murdering her husband. Remembering concerns his friend had of his daughters marriage, Derrick develops a plan to get her away from the situation. He convinces her to go away with him, leaving with just the clothes she is wearing.
Not knowing where to go, she decides to go home with him to Alabama. There are so many good points in this book. One of them is how Derrick feels about marriage after his wife cheated on him. Love has to be constantly nurtured. It's just the next step toward eternal happiness. I enjoyed the similarity between Derrick trying to save Larissa from prison, and bringing her to God and eternal salvation. The Christian aspect of this story is so light, it is easy to read yet still understand Derrick's strong beliefs. I also enjoyed how their relationship grew from total strangers to very good friends who gave of themselves to protect each other.
I highly recommend this story for adults. I received a copy of this book from BookCrash Blog program. This is my honest review. View 2 comments. Feb 27, Amber Smith rated it did not like it. And, I want to always give my honest opinion on the books that I read. As I stepped toward the front door, a couple of vicious stray dogs bounded from out of nowhere in the darkness, snarling and showing some pretty scary teeth. Just as I thought I was in for a rather difficult time, Buddy charged from behind me and chased the menacing dogs away.
Lassie has nothing on Buddy!
Buddy, of course, is Dixie in Innocence Denied. He was a wonderful dog and, sadly, soon after we vacated the property he was struck and killed by a speeding car. Although I was educated for a career in the business world, I never felt comfortable there. Having had an interest in writing since childhood, I decided to pursue a sideline career in the publishing industry. The Lord blessed me along the way and led me to success with secular fiction and as a book editor.
I served as an Editorial Associate for the Writer's Digest School and taught weekend writing workshops at colleges and universities across the nation. I soon realized that I was a much better editor than writer, so I set writing aside for many years and concentrated on editing alone. I've always enjoyed helping struggling writers achieve their dreams. Several years ago an idea for a suspenseful secular novel occurred to me, but I couldn't get motivated to write it.
Sometime during I was particularly moved by a church sermon about using our spiritual gifts in service to God. I felt ashamed that I had never honored Him through my writing for granting me the skills that made me happy in life, and about that same time I felt a gentle nudge from God telling me that the secular story that had nagged me for years could be converted into a Christian novel that could possibly inspire some of its readers to study His word.
The Golden Rule of Christian fiction is that writers should never approach publishers with the statement that "God told me to write this," yet that's exactly what happened. Under His direction, whenever I felt stuck in the process He would zap an idea into my head and push me forward again.
